“Everything is ready for the celebration”
Less than a week before the start of the activities within the framework of the celebration of the 10 years of « L’économiste du Bénin », the CEO of the said newspaper, Leonard Dossou and his team held a press conference on Thursday, September 8, 2022. After the press conference held on 25 August on the history, experiences and achievements of The Economist of Benin, the Organising Committee for the 10 years of this media outlet, which became a label in the sub-region, unveiled on 8 September, the programme of activities for the commemoration of their 10 years anniversary. On behalf of the first activities, this is a training series that runs from Monday 12 to Tuesday 13 September 2022. For this training planned to take place at the University Institute Les Cours SONOU-Caboma, with some thirty journalists, several themes are announced, including « lexicon of the economic journalist »; « journalistic investigation technique »; « detection and deconstruction of fake news in the digital age », etc.
In addition, on Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15, respectively, a donation to the orphanage « Centre Vidjingnin » of Dékanmè in the commune of Kpomassè and the health walk of the Unafrica crossroads at the Azalaï hotel where the « Economist’s Market » will be held from September 15 to 17 « , every day from 08: 00. This will go along with blood donation sessions. Speaking at this press conference, « two flagship activities are planned for Friday 16 and Saturday 17 September 2022, » said the promoter of « L’économiste du Bénin, » Leonard Dossou. According to the report, this is the « 1st Forum of L’économiste » whose central theme is: « Effectiveness of economic and financial information for sustainable growth in Sub-Saharan Africa ». Around this theme, several internationally renowned panelists from WAEMU member countries and Europe are expected. « This is a high-level forum bringing together specialists and experts from the world of the economy, finance and stock exchange, » continued Léonard Dossou, before adding that « The 1st forum of L’économiste » ends with two media workshops on Saturday, September 17.
The media workshops will be followed by a tourist outing to the Agoualand site in Ouèdo in the Commune of Abomey-Calavi « . As for the second flagship activity of the 10 years anniversary festivities, it is planned « a Gala evening and partner distinctions » of the newspaper. It should be noted that the Organising Committee expressed its gratitude to the event’s sponsor, the Minister of State for the Economy and Finance, Romuald Wadagni, as well as to the various sponsors and partners.
