The Regional Partners/CSOs/Non-State Actors Working Group against Gender-Based Violence/Violence against Children (ECW-RPWG-GBV/VAC) organized a virtual meeting from 19 to 20 July 2022. The objective of the meeting was to identify new strategies to address gender-based violence against children.
The working group, established in October 2020, aims at using the ECOWAS convening mandate to galvanize immediate action across the region and eradicate gender-based violence (GBV) and violence against children (VAC), and ensure that every child and every woman is protected now and in the immediate future. ECOWAS convened the sixth (6th) online meeting of the regional partners/CSOs/non-state actors working group on gender-based violence/violence against children (ecw-rpwg-gbv/vac) to enable members to take stock of actions and define the next challenges. At the end of the meeting, some important outcomes included holding a hybrid meeting of the group later in the year and requesting members to contribute to the finalization of the draft template to ‘highlight’ the Member States and the working group’s operating procedures. Earlier in December 2021, the group had held its fifth meeting at which wide-ranging decisions were taken, including setting committees to develop a ‘point lighting’ model for Member States on GBV/VAC planned by the working group for 2022, finalizing the draft ‘Operating Procedures’ for the working group.
